Our History

In an effort to support the Owasso School District’s already excellent educational system, a group of concerned civic-minded citizens acted on David Boren’s Educational Excellence Program philosophy and incorporated the Owasso Education Foundation (OEF). The OEF provides an avenue through its “Grants-to-Teachers Program” for energetic and enthused educators to obtain additional funding for new, unique, and innovative teaching tools and techniques that otherwise would not be available through traditional school funding.

Since its humble beginnings in May of 1990 when almost all the money from fund-raising events was dispersed for grants, to present, where seventy percent (70%) of annual net earnings plus one hundred percent (100%) of endowment interest income is made available annually, the OEF has awarded approximately $500,000 in grants.

Additional academic opportunities beyond the scope of traditional funding is possible because of tax deductible contributions made by the many great Owasso corporate and supportive citizens who believe their financial support of the OEF is an investment in Owasso’s future.
